Diagnosis of Fragile X is done by Gold Standard Technology as described here. http://asuragen.com/portfolio/genetics/amplidex-pcrce-fmr1/ . There are few centres in India using this technology and reports following details which are critical in genetic counselling, screening, and prenatal testing. (1) Exact number of CGG Repeats (2) AGG interruption presence (3) Homozygous or Heterozygus for female carrier - or foetus (4) Mosaicism . Partial report is not acceptable, no matter how cheap the test may be. Karyotyping is extremely less sensitive. MLPA Test can not give these information. Southern Blots technique is obsolete. .
